I loved Getting Lucky Number Seven!! Is there anything better than a friendship turned more type of story?? For me there isn't!! I absolutely love when a couple is friends before lovers!!
Getting Lucky Number Seven is about Lyla Wilder, who is very smart and pretty and has no self confidence because she is not really experienced when it comes to dating or being popular. Pause here for a moment.... I LOVE when the leading lady is smart!! Lyla is a chemistry major and very educated. All leading laddies should be like Lyla. Nothing gets over of her.
Lyla decides after a bad set up date, that she wants to be more desirable to the opposite sex. Her date did a real number on her ego. Lyla knows she is not a knockout, but she still has feelings. So she asks her best friend Beck Davenport for help. Beck is the school's star hockey player as well as a man whore. He has a different girl every night and isn't looking for relationships. He is living the college life as much as he can, because he knows once it is over his life will change forever.
Lyla comes up with a list of things she wants to do while she is still in college to expand her hoizons It includes getting drunk, having sex, and having fun. She decides to ask Beck for help. What starts off as strictly friendship turns into more for both of them the more time they spend together working on Lyla's list.
Beck is starting to develop some serious feelings for Lyla, realizing that he does want more out of life than one night stands. He is starting to envision Lyla as someone long term. What Beck doesn't tell anyone is who he really is and what happens to him when college ends and real life begins. Hockey will soon be a memory and he will give up his dreams to become someone that is expected of him.
This book had me hooked from page one. I loved the writing style of Cindi Madsen. The story was written brilliantly. Lyla was smarty and sassy and Beck was kind and loving. It was a fantastic story that made my heart smile.
