Excerpt

It doesn’t take long to get to Jack’s place. Griffin and he have been working together for years. Jack has always been the biggest flirt and serial dater up until he met Shelby. But in the span of the eighteen months, he met her, got married in Vegas, and had a kid.
It was a quick courtship.
Shelby works as an interior designer on the island. She fixes up huge houses for the rich people who will only use them for a couple of months a year. The cookout this weekend was her idea since starting Monday she’s finally back at work since having their baby, Ava, two months ago. She doesn’t really have any coworkers other than her assistant, Sarah, so Jack invited all the other firefighters and their families over too.
We park on the street along with a half dozen other trucks and a few minivans from the family men. He’s out of the truck and over on my side before I can even get my things together.
“Hand it over,” he demands, his palm up waiting for me to comply.
I play dumb, wide eyes and innocence on my face. “What are you talking about?” I climb down the too big truck, trying desperately not to fall over . . . again.
“The book that’s hiding in your bag, Leni.” He points to the tote bag hanging to my side. “Come on now, give it to me. Easiest way for you not to give in to the desire to hide and read is to remove the temptation.”
“I left my book at home. Remember, you saw me set it down.” I play dumb.
“I’ve known you since we were nine. If you think I don’t know that you have a backup book in that bag, then you’re dead wrong.”
“Ugh!” I sigh dramatically as I pull out my well-loved copy of Emma and place it in his hand. He gently tosses it onto my seat, and I smack his shoulder as he does. He knows better than to throw around my books.
“Great, now the Kindle.” His voice is stern, and I know he means it.
“Seriously? Griffin, this is not cool. I’m a grown woman. I can go a few hours without reading.”
“Sure, you can. But I know you’ll get overwhelmed by the chaos that is definitely happening in there and you’ll retreat to a quiet corner.” He leans in close enough to me that I can smell his subtle cologne and shoves his hand deep into the tote, pulling my Kindle out in one fast swipe.
“Don’t you firefighters take obeying the law seriously?” I snark at him. “Seems to me you’re stealing my possessions and my lifeline.”
“Sue me. Hell, march downtown and file a report with any cop there. Good luck getting them to pursue it. I think they have much bigger fish to fry than me holding onto your electronics while we are at a social gathering. Don’t you think?”
“Grrr,” I growl at him before stomping off toward the gate with him on my heels. Before I can even acknowledge what is happening, he’s caught up to me and has me caged between him and the gate. I work hard to steady my breath, refusing to let him see how his closeness affects me. I feel his hand slide into the back pocket of my overalls. As quick as it’s there, it’s gone, along with my cell phone. The backup to my backup plan.
“I told you, Leni, I know you. You can have this with your Kindle app back on the way home!” he yells out to me as I let the gate behind me slam in front of him.
With a huff, I turn, open the gate, and storm angrily through it. Caught in a fit of laughter, he stands there watching me leave him behind. With the loud sound of the metal gate slamming behind me mixed with the booming laughter coming from Griffin, the party seems to come to a complete standstill.
Great . . . everyone is looking my way and my first instinct is to turn and run. But to prove to him I can do this, I stand tall, throw my long red hair over my shoulder, and march myself over to Shelby.

Addicted to Him by New York Times, USA Today and international bestselling author Monica Murphy is now live!

Eli Bennett.

Quarterback at our biggest rival high school.

My brother’s worst enemy.

So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

For one, he’s totally gorgeous and boy, does he know it. He’s an arrogant trash talker who brings drama wherever he goes.

And for some reason, he’s set his sights on me.

The more I get to know him, the more I realize he’s actually kind of…sweet. Deep down, he’s broken. Hurting. He’s dealing with a lot, but he also puts on a major front so no one can tell. I want to be there for him. I want to be with him. But because everyone in my life hates Eli, we have to keep our relationship a secret.

The problem with secrets is they never stay secret for long…

“Your team is looking strong this season,” Eli says.

“That’s because we are strong.” It’s my turn to wear the cocky smile as I sit on a nearby

barstool. “Be prepared for us to kick your ass during our homecoming.”

He makes a dismissive noise. “Good luck with that. We’ve been working on taking your

team down for years. This is going to be the game where we finally make it happen.”

“You really believe that?” I raise a brow.

He rounds the kitchen island so he’s across from me, resting his elbows on the marble

countertop before he leans in. His face comes closer and closer to mine, until he’s right there.

Directly in front of me. “I believe in my team, just as strongly as you believe in yours.”

I realize our mouths are perfectly aligned. He’s definitely within kissing distance, and I

remember what it was like. Kissing Eli. Touching Eli. Feeling his hands on me. My breaths

become shorter and my heart thumps wildly. Maybe I should tell him to back off. Or maybe I

should back away myself. But I don’t move.

Neither does he.

“It’s weird having you here in my kitchen on a Friday night.” He reaches out, tugging

gently on the end of my ponytail. “Wearing your Badger gear.”

“Right.” I release a shuddery breath, hoping he doesn’t realize how much he’s affecting

me. “Like I told you earlier, I need to change.”

“You can change in my room,” he offers, raising his brows.

“I’m not going to your room tonight Eli,” I tell him sternly. I have to have some sort of

boundaries, or I won’t respect myself in the morning.

And neither will he.

“Want to go for a swim?” he asks, still not changing his position.

Still directly in my face.

“I didn’t bring a swimsuit,” I answer, my voice soft.

“That’s okay. We don’t need swimsuits.” His eyes are dancing, looking more than a little

pleased with himself.

“I’m not skinny dipping with you.”

“That’s a damn shame. I was hoping I could catch a glimpse of naked Ava.”

Ha. He wishes. “In your dreams.”

“You are so right,” he says with a sigh. “You don’t even know.”

I don’t want to know.

Well, I sort of do. Not that I’d tell him that.

“I can wear my sports bra and briefs,” I tell him, and when he frowns, I continue, “To

swim in.”

His frown disappears, replaced by a hopeful expression. “You’ll really swim with me?”

“Yeah. Sure. But you can’t get too handsy.” Now I lean in even closer, our mouths only

inches apart. “I’m not that kind of girl.”

He chuckles, and the sound is warm, wrapping all around me. “You give as good as you

get, don’t you?”

“Even better, if you’re lucky,” I say, breathing deeply as I slowly pull away from him. I

don’t even know where I’m coming up with this stuff. Swear he brings it out of me. “But I don’t

think you’re ever going to get lucky with me, Bennett.”

“You can’t challenge me like that. Game fucking on.” He holds his hand out for a bro

shake and I take it, ready for him to do some elaborate handshake ritual, but he tricks me at the

last minute.

Instead, he brings my hand to his mouth, his gaze never leaving mine, as he oh so slowly

kisses my knuckles. “I’m going to make you mine someday, Ava. Watch me.”

Oh God.

I am in so much trouble.

3.5 stars for Leo
Leo was a complicated and at times brutal story that you could not help but have all the feels for. Leo is another one of the Preston brothers, who love hard and have a lot of baggage in their lives. They have had a hard life. There is plenty of love surrounding them, but have hard times expressing themselves. None more so than Leo. He is always in his head. From a young age, he knows he met someone special in Mia.

Their relationship spans many years and they have a lot of citations thrown at them. Individually and together. They both are not living their best lives. This brings them together and rips them apart.

I love the Preston Brother's books. This was a hard one. It had so much sadness and grief.

Hooked on Her, an all-new fun and flirty forbidden romance from Stacey Lynn is out now!

HookedOnHer-IceKings-ebook

Tessa Chauncy is the best kind of trouble. Beautiful, sweet and completely off limits. I’ve sat by and watched other men drool after her and forced myself to stay in check. Hey, I’m in the NHL... I have self-control in spades.

Except when it comes to her.

With the bat of her lashes and quick whip of that sharply pointed tongue Tessa can knock grown men to their knees. I’ve seen them wither and crumble under her confident stare— something I’m pretty sure she learned from sparring with me, thankyouverymuch.

But I’m not just falling for her. I’m down for the count.

She’s the girl I wanted, when wanting her was wrong.
She’s also my new roommate--
And oh yeah, my best friend’s little sister.

Heaven help me, I’m probably going to get his fist to my face or his hockey stick shoved in very dangerous places for what I’m about to do, but I don’t think I care anymore.

I’m in love with my best friend’s little sister….and I’m done waiting.

Excerpt:

I scoop more chicken onto a folded chunk of naan and moan as I savor the taste. There are some decent restaurants where I live, all within walking distance, which is a bonus, but none are as good as Tandor’s. I can’t even piece together what makes it so delicious but it’s mouth-watering amazing.

“Jesus, Tessa. Can you not sound like you’re having an orgasm when you eat?”

I choke on my chicken and wash it down with my water. “Don’t like it, you can leave.”

“But then I won’t be able to share with you why I’m here.”

The chicken I’ve devoured rolls in my stomach. Obviously it’s not because he’s a nice guy. I lean back in my chair. “What is it?”

He huffs a laugh and I hate he looks so damn good, smirking at me, shaking his head like I’m some amusing little thing.

“You’re cute, Tessa. I ever tell you that?”

“I think the day you took me to get stitches in my head, yeah. You bopped me on the nose with a finger and said ‘cute and tough, nice’ before ignoring me the rest of the weekend.”

I’m mortified with myself. He’s not supposed to know these things, know how much I remember every.single.encounter with him ever.

His mouth opens a bit and he stares at me. Yeah. That dose of word vomit probably surprises the hell out of him too. But hell, in for a penny. He says he doesn’t give a shit about what Sawyer thinks? He should know what I think.

“I’m pretty sure that’s the day I started having a crush on you.”

He doesn’t take his eyes off me as he chews on what I think is chicken tikki masala. Slowly, he swallows and sets his own fork down. Leaning forward, elbows on the table, I’m tempted to drop my gaze to his mouth and watch his full lips move so sexily as he opens his mouth and asks, “Want to know when it started for me? When I started facing the reality that it was my best friend’s little sister that made my dick hard in my dreams at night and when I was on the road?”

Stacy Lynn is a go to author for me. I love her books. Hockey romance is one of my favorite reads. So this one was a no brainer.

Jason and Tessa have a weird relationship. Jason has been in love with her for years. She is his best friend's little sister. He has always really statued away. But. something has changed and Jason no longer wants to. He wants to make a go of a relationship with Tessa.

Tessa is coming out of a bad relationship. He ex stole everything she owns. She was no where to go and nothing to her name. Her brother takes her in and that is when everything changes. Jason finds her a job with the hockey team to ensure she stays in North Carolina and then his plan can fall into place.

All Jason wants is his chance to win Tessa over and see they belong together.
