She played with their combined fingers. “And what about us?”
“What about us?” He feigned ignorance.
“Well, what the hell was that when we first came in here? Because at first you barely acknowledged me, and then poof, my nipple’s in your mouth.”
He let go of her hand, rubbing it down his face. “Yeah, about that…”
“Don’t you dare apologize!” she squealed, poking him with her finger, sounding like a shrew.
He grabbed her finger. “I wasn’t going to apologize. I was going to tell you I don’t know what that was. It was like I couldn’t be around you all night without touching you.”
The grin spread slowly, giddy excitement spreading throughout her. “Seriously?”
He sat up and faced her so they were eye to eye. “I’ve never been more serious.”
Raquel wanted to believe him, to attack him until he couldn’t see straight, but there were too many doubts that continued to swirl through her head while she tried to process everything he’d said. “What about your rule ’no dating clients’ rule?”
He swallowed hard. “Let’s just say I’m going to have to trust you’re not playing me for a fool.”
“I’m not.” She held up two fingers. “Scout’s honor.”
He grabbed her hand, pulling her against him. He leaned down, kissing her lightly. “You were never a scout.”
She put her hand on his face. “Hell, no, but you like me a little bad.”

Marie Garner hails from North Carolina, and has had her nose in a book for as long as she can remember. Story ideas have been floating around in her head for as long as she can remember when she finally decided to write them down. She is an avid football fan, often found rooting on her Washington Redskins or her alma mater NC State. She has taught for the past 7 years, with a short break to earn her Masters degree. Let me start by saying that this was the first book that I have read by Author Maria Garner. I enjoyed the story; thought it was a fun read although I did not connect with the main characters. This is the second in this trilogy but there was enough background that you did not need to read the first book.
Raquel Adams is a leading actress but with a sign around her neck that screens trouble for all men. But in reality that is farthest from the truth. She has allowed everyone to think that she is someone else. Raquel never corrected anyone about the rumors that have run wild with her personal life. But she is in need of a major image makeover; that is where Clayton Cox steps into her life.
Clayton Cox is the go to man to help anyone clean up there image for the public. He is the best at what he does. And he plans to show Raquel Adams, just how good he is. Although he has a rule of not getting involved personally with the clients, there is just something about Raquel that pulls as a spot inside Clayton that he hasn’t felt before. But he tries his best to stick to this rule while Raquel does all she can to get him to break it.
The plan for Raquel to start dating just one person and be seen with him, does not go as planned. This causes Clayton to step in and be the “boyfriend” that she needs, for the cameras and fans to begin with but feelings and desires start to play havoc on his will to keep it personal.
As they explore getting to know each other, Clayton does his best to keep the relationship out of the bedroom. But he is a man after all. Will Clayton be the one to tame the Man-Eater?
