Eden Butler is an editor and writer of New Adult Romance and SciFi and Fantasy novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate. This could explain her affinity for rule breaking and rum. This book was everything I love in an amazing book. It took my breath away, left me in tears, had my heart swelling with love and had me wanting to put my arms around both Kona and Keira. I need more of them. They will forever hold a special spot in my love of reading.
Their relationship was like a head on collision with pieces of broken heart scattered all over the highway. It was something only true love could do to a person. Keira and Kona loved liked there was no tomorrow yet when tomorrow came; there was a new set of lies and deceit by someone that was just pure evil.
Keira had to learn at a young age that loving someone can break your heart. She was so guarded and focused on her school work that when she is paired up with Kona, the resident player of the school, she knows she will not fall for his tricks. It is just a project. But once she got to know Kona, she started to let her guard down alittle. Until he was inside her heart, body and soul. There was no way out.
Kona, football player and ladies man could have any girl he wanted at school. And most of the time he did, nameless faces for just a night of fun. But when Keira shows him that she is not common and is not going to take any shit off of him, he realizes that he wants her life his next breath. She helps him breathe easier. The hard part is to convince her of that.
As their time together for the project continues, because they aren’t really friends, the spark and unseen line that draws them together gets thicker. Once they give in to this attraction, there is no turning back. The world around them ceases to be. It is just the two of them.
Events happen, lies are told, and feeling hurt and hearts are shattered beyond repair. But as they say time heals all wounds. And it took 16 years for the holes in Keira’s heart and soul to heal. Only to be pulled apart again.
