The After of Us is all about Will. If you read the series, you know that Will is Chase's younger brother. In the other books Will is young and getting into trouble. Now, Will has just graduated from college and moving to NYC to start his career and life.
Will thinks he has it all figured out until his ex shows up, with a child. Will soon learns that the little girl is his. This throws Will's whole life for a loop. He was off to start an 80 hour a week job in NYC, now he has a 5 year old little girl he knows nothing about.
Now Will runs to Harmony Creek to the only person he knows can help him.... Chase. Will is 22 and knows nothing about kids and feels overwhelmed. He turns to his bother and sister in law for help. What Will really wants is to leave his daughter in Harmony Creek while he goes to NYC. It is a temporary solution to his problems.
All his plans change again once he sees Emma again. Emma was a girl he had a moment with a long time ago. Nothing ever came from it and they both always wondered what could have been. Now Will is falling in love with his daughter and Emma, and doesn't want to leave Harmony Creek.
This was a sweet read. I have to be honest though. I was hoping Will and Cassie would get their lives together and have their own happily ever after. It killed me Cassie abandoned he daughter and did not get her life together. I wanted Will to be with her in the end. They had a history and a daughter together.
I never warmed up to Emma. Maybe that is my issue.
I liked the story. Just wanted it to go a different way.
