This was my first book by Author Kelly Gendron, even thought it was book 5 in the TroubleMaker series, it can be read as a standalone. This was a story of forgiveness, love, trust and learning to let go of the past. The characters interaction made the story flow well.
Fallow O’Conner has been living his life more or less by himself since the day he lost everything. He turned his back on his family and friends. You see there was nothing left for him without his wife. She was his everything. He knew he would never love again. He was just buying his time with all these women until the day he could get his revenge of the person that killed his wife. He was not ready for Katie Rustle. She might have started out as the stowaway on his boat but she will be so much more to Fallow than he is ready to admit.
Katie Rustle knows that she is just the person to get this job done for her boss. She knows all too well how to handle a man that has lost something in his life and shut others out. Her own father was never truly a father but reminded her daily as she was growing up that she was the reason her mother was not here. As Kate tries to do her job, she finds herself stranded on Fallow’s boat with him, headed to an island for the weekend. But she will make the most of it and get the job done.
The island holds lots of answers to Fallow and how he has been living. But having Katie round, makes Fallow feel again. Something that he hasn’t since his wife died. Katie and Fallow fight this attraction to each other. They continue to banner back and forth to only future the attraction. Katie does not just take things. No sir, she has a fire in her to show Fallow that she means business. Fallow rather enjoys this.
As Fallow’s day of revenge nears, there will be secrets revealed that will change his course of action. How can this be? What has happen with his memory of the past? Will Katie be able to help Fallow find himself or will he be lost again? Can Fallow honor his wife’s wishes?
